Networking Control Plane

Network systems of all kinds—Ethernet switches for data centers and enterprise campuses, enterprise and service-provider routers, Carrier Ethernet Switch Routers (CESR), OLTs and other broadband access systems, optical transport equipment—need a processor for control and management and, optionally, to provide special network services. Meeting these needs, Layerscape processors have high-speed PCIe and Ethernet to communicate with data-plane ICs and integrate high-performance, power-efficient CPUs to host network operating system within a stringent power budget. Accelerators help enable VPN, network monitoring and other control-plane and data-plane functions.
